James Lynch
Framed: 80 x 95 cm.; 31½ x 37½ in.
James Lynch grew up in Wiltshire and lives in Somerset. Since his first sell-out exhibition in the West Country in the 1980s he has won awards, exhibited regularly in London and received many commissions from private clients and corporations. He is a painter of the English landscape and skies, often inspired by wild flying with his paraglider. He paints using the ancient medium of egg tempera, which he makes from raw ground pigments and egg yolks from his hens. The paintings are built up over time with many glazes of paint. As well as working on gesso-coated panels, he makes smaller, more impromptu paintings on sized paper. James exhibits at The Portland Gallery, London W1 and his forthcoming solo exhibition runs from 25 September to 11 October 2024. James’ work is in several public and private collections.
“Lynch is very much part of the archetypal English landscape and its mythology. He belongs to a long line of truly English painters.”
