The painting depicts a vibrant and scenic view through an open window framed by bright blue shutters. The composition leads the viewer's eye outward to a sunlit landscape featuring a mix of greenery, a body of water, and distant hills. The colours are rich and saturated, with bold blues, greens, and earthy tones capturing the warmth and light of the scene. The perspective from inside the room looking out gives the painting an inviting and intimate feel, as if offering a glimpse into a serene and picturesque moment. The brushstrokes are loose and expressive, contributing to a lively and dynamic atmosphere. The artwork is framed in a simple yet elegant gold frame, with a double mount that accentuates the painting. The overall effect is one of warmth and tranquility, showcasing Bowyer's ability to capture light and colour beautifully.

Francis Bowyer is a British born artist known for working with watercolours and oils, he studied at St Martins School of Art and at Chelsea School of Art in London. He has taught drawing and painting at all levels up to post-graduate and until recently, he taught at the Royal Academy Schools. Bowyer is a regular exhibitor at the Royal Watercolour Society, the New English Art Club and with the Small Paintings Group. His paintings of the children at Walberswick, Suffolk and interiors of Parisian restaurants, Camp Bastion in Afghanistan, and more recently his atmospheric studies of his studio interior, create a lively vibrancy.
