Nicholas Verrall (b. 1945) is a British painter and printmaker whose work is celebrated for its evocative landscapes, seascapes and expressive use of colour and composition. Born in Northampton, Verrall studied Fine Art and Printing at the Northampton School of Art in the early 1960s, later working briefly in picture conservation and restoration before becoming a full-time artist in the 1970s. 1stDibs+1
Verrall’s artistic career spans more than five decades, during which his work has been regularly exhibited at venues including the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of British Artists. His first solo show was held at the Upper Grosvenor Gallery in 1971, and he has maintained a consistent presence in British art exhibitions ever since. Catto Gallery
The painting Seaside is characteristic of Verrall’s approach: a compelling blend of atmospheric observation and painterly expression. Whether depicting coastal vistas, rural scenes or architectural subjects, his work combines a strong sense of place with a harmonious, balanced composition.
